About Us

The Anasazi, known to historians as The Old Ones, were peaceful pueblo people inhabiting the Southwest around 2000 years ago.  With their great apartment-style pueblos and beautiful pottery, they provided the roots of the first sophisticated civilization that would become the United States.  They are the inspiration for Anasazi Old World Doors and Ironwork ~ a celebration of all things old in handmade doors and furnishings ~ founded by Christy Power in 1998.

In the early 1970’s, while living in historic Santa Fe, New Mexico ~ a Mecca for Old World architecture and custom door and furniture builders ~ Christy was captivated by the imperfect beauty of naturally aged and distressed wood and iron that abounds in that region.  Her connection to these influences grew over the years until the mission became apparent…to produce a line of durable products made from new wood and iron, and skillfully replicate aged patinas and timeworn surfaces to give them the essence of resurrected treasures.

At Anasazi, we employ Old World joinery, scale that is often massive and commanding and some design details that are intentionally crude, because imperfection is paramount to the authenticity of the look.  Over the years, the proud craftsmen of Anasazi have made a study of the many facets of weathered wood and iron to realistically craft thousands of distressed pieces for distinctive homes and commercial projects throughout Northern California and Nevada.  The greatest compliment we receive is being asked where we find our “salvaged” wood.

Our skill in blending colors for the uniquely beautiful finishes we call “peeled paint” has set Anasazi apart from typical door companies. Reaching far beyond industry standards, we are uncompromising when it comes to producing long lasting hand-applied finishes that hold up to the harshest elements.  In addition, we are pleased to offer a maintenance service to our clients, to keep their products in top shape.
